SHIATSU PRACTICE
The basic principles of Iokai Shiatsu with foremost the quality
of touch,
relaxation and natural use of body weight in creating shiatsu
pressure.
The Katas: These are basic treatment sequences where one learns to give
shiatsu treatment to the receiver in the following body positions:
- prone position
- reclining position
- side position
- sitting position
This is the authentic Eastern mode of learning: through constant
practical training to strengthen and develop ones physical co-ordination.
This training leads simultaneously to deeper insight in ones
own functioning on all levels.
Meridian Stretching: This is an extensive series of exercises developed by Masunaga
Sensei to activate specific meridians singly or in combination
with one another.
Treatment of specific regions of the body: extensive attention for treatment of neck, shoulders and back
Yin/Yang co-operation of two hands: The development of the use and interaction of an active and a
support-hand during treatment. In this duo lies the hidden power
of a treatment.

Introduction to Meridian study
Feedback and personal corrections: We accompany each student in progressively refining his/her approach
and intention. This, both in the physical dimension (the handgrips,
posture and physical co-ordination as well as in the communicative
quality.
Self-Study: An important part of the training is in practicing at home and
in this way repeating with other students, friends and acquaintances
all the shiatsu techniques presented. We advise the students to
amass as much practical experience as possible in this way. |
