THEORY AND ORIENTAL PHILOSOPHY

Oriental Medicine comes forth out of a rich and varied tradition spanning several thousand years. Its vision of the human being and health is an enormous source of wisdom. It forms an alternative vision to the hectic pace of contemporary Western culture. We will examine the philosophy behind traditional Eastern medicine ("the message of the Ancients") and learn how it applies to daily life situations.
In the course of the Basic Training are the following theoretical offerings:
  • The concept of Heaven-man-Earth: the traditional world view
  • Introduction to Yin/Yang theory
  • Introduction to the Five Transformations and the concept of the unity of all facets of human life
  • Study of the concept "Ki" and its application to our body and our life
  • Shu Shoku Do So (right breathing, right eating, right movement, right thought) as the basis for a healthy lifestyle
  • Study of selected texts from the Nei Jing Su Wen (the Internal Classic of the Yellow Emperor) : the classical Eastern approach to sickness and health
  • Introduction to the role of food in the Eastern vision of health and medicine
