TRAINING

ATTENTION FOR ONE’S OWN BODY AND MIND:

the strengthening from one’s own condition
by means of:

  • Do-In : is a Japanese form of exercise to awaken body and mind. It includes meridian stretches in combination with breathing, concentration and simple self-massage techniques. These exercises promote a strong corporeal consciousness of one’s own body and meridian system.
  • Training with Ki: all exercises which emphasize the unity of body and mind. Exercises where one experiences one’s own ki circulation. Exercises which strengthen natural balance and body co-ordination, strengthen the center of the body and body movement from the center of body gravity.
  • Qigong: is an ancient Chinese movement art, which once again promotes the circulation of internal energy through exercises where movement and breathing are co-ordinated. The exercises are geared to feeling and maintaining this energy. We work with qigong exercises from both the still and dynamic styles. The Eight Elegant Exercises (Ba Duan Jin) are transmitted as an integral series during the Basic Year.
  • Meditation: during all the weekend seminars we begin every morning with zazen. You could call zazen "the way of the everyday". Practicing sitting with complete attention and focus, relaxed but aware of breathing and posture. Gradually this undivided attention also permeates all aspects of everyday reality..
