A surprising result

Sometimes you give treatments with a surprising result

Sometimes you have treatments with a surprising result. I would like to share one with you.

Ineke (I changed my name) came to see me regularly for a shiatsu treatment ten years ago. Three months ago she contacted me again. By now she had retired and, along with her new friend, she usually walked a lot. Preferably long distances along the beach or through the forest. That wasn’t possible anymore because she had pain in her lower back and legs. Because of this, she could hardly walk anymore. I treated her for that and received a text message a few days after the treatment that the treatment had been very helpful and that she would be able to walk again for long distances. Great for her! She was genuinely happy about it.

When she returned the following week, she told me something remarkable. Six years ago, after a cold, her sense of smell disappeared. And two days after the treatment, she could suddenly smell again! That was an intense experience for her. Again, she could smell the food, the flowers, and the smell of her son.

Now I wouldn’t have treated her for her loss of smell. I didn’t even know it when I treated her. What I did do was treat her ‘Long Meridiaan’ on her chest and on one of her arms. I felt that this was necessary and had therefore included it in my treatment. In Oriental medicine, smelling is part of the function of the Long Meridiaan. In retrospect, I can explain why she is now able to smell again. But that this has such a surprisingly quick and clear effect is totally surprising. Ineke still comes in for a treatment every two to three weeks. And every time she tells me how happy she is that she can smell again. And she walks 15 to 20 kilometers every day.
