Social commitment

Attention to people in everything we do.

Attention to people in everything we do

At Iokai Shiatsu Netherlands, we do not see social engagement as something separate from our training. It is intertwined with the way we practice our profession, how we teach, and how we interact with our students.

In Iokai Shiatsu we learn to look not only at complaints or symptoms, but at the person as a whole. With attention to a person’s personal circumstances, capabilities, and development. This same attitude forms the starting point of our teaching.

We believe it is important that students feel seen and supported. Everyone brings their own background, life experiences, and learning process. We strive to accommodate these differences and guide students not only in their development as a Shiatsu therapist, but also in their personal growth.

Our social commitment is also expressed in concrete initiatives that make the training more accessible and that aim to offer people new opportunities.

Practical Shiatsu training

A new opportunity for work: free chair massage training

In collaboration with Helder Werk, we offer a number of people with a lack of access to the labor market the opportunity to follow a free training course to become a Shiatsu chair masseur.

Not everyone is automatically able to find suitable work. Sometimes there is a need for a new direction, a practical skill, or an opportunity to re-enter the labor market.

With this training, we want to contribute to this. In about half a year, participants will learn the skills to provide professional shiatsu chair massages. The training is practice-oriented and offers opportunities upon completion to work as a chair masseur, for example in companies and organizations.

Helder Werk supports participants in finding work wherever possible. In this way, we combine our experience in shiatsu education with Helder Werk’s nationwide network.

The free training places are intended solely for people who meet the requirements of the Social Return program. The number of places is limited.

Trial module with financial support

We believe that the opportunity to learn Iokai Shiatsu should not depend solely on a person's financial situation.

Therefore, thanks to the support of involved sponsors, we can financially support new students in their first introduction to the program.

For the Trial module Shiatsu program, we are making a limited number of subsidized places available. This is to lower the financial threshold and give more people the opportunity to discover what Iokai Shiatsu can mean for them.

The Trial module is an integral part of our training and offers participants the opportunity to experience whether they want to continue with the Basic Year.

More information about the subsidy and the conditions can be found on our page. Trial module Shiatsu.

Vision iokai

Shiatsu as a connection to society

For us, Iokai Shiatsu is more than just teaching a treatment technique. It is also a way to develop attention for ourselves, for others, and for the world in which we live.

We want to pass on this attitude not only to our students, but also to put it into practice ourselves. By providing carefully structured education, supporting students, and where possible creating opportunities for people for whom those opportunities are less obvious.

In this way, we try, within our own capabilities, to contribute something to society.
