Iokai Shiatsu Training – Helping Others and Yourself

Do you want to learn a profession where you can really make a difference to others? And at the same time work on your own health and personal development?

In our Shiatsu training as a certified Shiatsu therapist, you learn to provide professional treatments and deepen your understanding of the interaction between the body and mind. Shiatsu is a Japanese massage therapy that goes beyond relaxation. You work with your hands, heart, and attention – based on the profound principles of Eastern medicine.

Are you looking for a massage training that not only teaches techniques, but also provides insight into the body’s self-healing abilities? Then Iokai Shiatsu is what you’re looking for. You’ll learn to treat at a meridian level, paying attention to both physical and emotional patterns.

Whether you choose an introductory workshop, a separate module, or the full Hbo vocational training program: you will develop into a professional therapist in an inspiring learning environment, with plenty of personal guidance.

You receive a certificate after completing each level of the training, and after completing the entire program, your treatments are reimbursed by health insurance companies and you can start working as a freelance Shiatsu therapist.

Location of classes: Amsterdam, Amersfoort and Delft
Reading times: Monday evening 19:00 – 22:00 (Amsterdam), Sunday 9:30 – 17:00 (Amersfoort and Delft)

What is Shiatsu

Iokai Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork that is rooted in Eastern medicine. At its core lies the concept of Ki – the life energy that keeps everything moving. By working with the hands on meridians and pressure points, you help restore the flow of Ki and bring your body and mind back into balance.

Complaints such as fatigue, headaches, or tension often arise when Ki becomes blocked. During the training you learn how to recognize and treat those blockages – in others as well as in yourself.

Iokai Shiatsu goes beyond symptoms. You learn not only techniques, but also to see the person behind the complaint. This holistic approach makes Iokai Shiatsu a valuable and profound way of working with health and well-being.

The Shiatsu training

At Iokai Shiatsu, you develop yourself and learn to support others in their health.

The Shiatsu training is modular, so you can decide how far you want to go. If you have no experience with Shiatsu yet, you can start with a short Shiatsu Intensive at the basic level.

For new students in our program, there is a scholarship available that allows you to take the first Intensive course at a reduced rate. After this Intensive, you will receive a certificate of attendance, and you can decide whether to continue with the basic year.

Shiatsu Trial Module

Would you like to try shiatsu first? That’s possible with a practical module: a module from the basic level of our training, spread over eight evenings (in Delft and Amsterdam) or 4 Sundays (Amersfoort). You’ll learn to give a relaxing shiatsu treatment in one of the positions (lying flat on your stomach, on your back, or on your side).

Afterwards, you can decide whether to continue with the next module.

For the pilot module, a grant of €400 is available for new students in our program.

Open day for Iokai Shiatsu training

Are you curious about whether the profession of a Shiatsu therapist is something for you?
Then come to an open day and get to know the shiatsu training in a relaxed way.

You will meet teachers, students, and graduated Shiatsu therapists who are happy to share their experiences with you. During joint exercises and short Shiatsu treatments, you will experience for yourself what Shiatsu is and how we work. Of course, there is ample opportunity to ask questions.

Would you prefer to get started immediately? You can also participate directly in a test module.

“Now that I’m building my practice, I see how valuable this shiatsu training has been, both professionally and personally. If you want to help other people, you’re open to discovering a new world, and you want to go through a development process yourself – then this shiatsu training is a must!”

“The shiatsu training is very practice-oriented, which suits me perfectly. From the first lesson you’re already working on yourself and others, and that makes the learning process really powerful. The structure is very clear: you start with the basics, but within a short time you already feel big changes in your body and mindset. The teachers guide you well, and I also learn a lot from my fellow students.”
