Hara, the silence and power within us

Hara, the silence and strength within us.

Those who follow us know that hara plays an important role in Iokai Shiatsu. For ourselves and for our clients. Hara (Japanese for belly) is our center, our natural center. Our physical and energetic center, whose center is located 3 fingers below the navel and two fingers inward.

A center is naturally silent. Just as the center of a wheel does not move, or the eye of a storm is still. We are constantly in motion, adapting, taking action. Hara is our center, our energetic center. There is silence, the silence we need to let everything around us move. If we do not connect with our center, we surrender to what is happening around us. We are no longer the center from which our world takes place, but we lose ourselves in the world around us. A good reason to return to our natural center, to our hara.

In Iokai Shiatsu we do a lot of exercises to get in touch with and stay in contact with our hara. We also treat hara in our clients and in ourselves so that we can continue to feel the silence and the power of our natural center. In the upcoming Shiatsu Intensive in Amersfoort (starting March 16th) we will focus on hara so that you can feel this power and silence for yourself.
