Hay fever and allergy symptoms

Shiatsu for hay fever and allergy symptoms

The past few months have been full of spring, with some days even featuring lovely summer weather. It’s great to be outside and enjoy the beautiful days. For people who suffer from hay fever, this is the season when symptoms flare up again. Red, swollen eyes, itchy skin, a blocked nose or fatigue – these are all classic symptoms of hay fever and allergies. Almost one in five people experience this at this time of year.

In Eastern medicine, health is seen as an expression of life energy, or Ki. How you feel, whether you experience any symptoms, and how your body reacts are all related to the balance in this energy. In hay fever or allergies, that balance is disturbed, causing you to react hypersensitively to external stimuli that are in themselves harmless.

The interesting thing about Shiatsu – a form of Eastern medicine – is that it doesn’t just look at the symptoms, but rather at the underlying energetic state of a person. And that is different for everyone. A complaint like hay fever may seem the same at first glance, but the cause is often personal and unique. It is this deeper layer that we approach during a Shiatsu treatment.

Meridians (energy channels) that play a role in hay fever include the gallbladder, colon, lung, and triple-warmth meridians. Which meridians are out of balance depends on a person’s energetic state. By carefully feeling and examining what the body is asking for, insight can be gained into what can be treated best. By applying pressure to these meridians and corresponding acupuncture points, symptoms can be reduced and the system can rest more.

Would you like to get acquainted with Shiatsu and experience how you can practically contribute to it yourself? On May 31st there is an workshop Shiatsu for hay fever and allergy symptoms.
