The Iokai Shiatsu Vocational Training Programme provides training at HBO level to become a Iokai Shiatsu therapist. It is a course with a lot of personal attention in a learning environment that offers room for each individual to develop from his or her own abilities into a qualified Iokai Shiatsu therapist.

What is Shiatsu?
Iokai Shiatsu is a manual therapy that complements regular medicine well. Using the thumb, fingers and palms of the hands, the therapist applies pressure on the meridians to enable a free flow of vital life energy through the body. Where needed, he or she will also mobilise and stretch certain joints. By doing this the body’s self-healing ability is strengthened
Come to the open day and start your shiatsu study in May
Come to the open day and discover whether the profession of shiatsu therapist fits you! You will meet our teachers, students and graduate Iokai Shiatsu therapists. With great enthusiasm they will tell you what it is like to study Shiatsu and to work as a Shiatsu therapist. If you are enthusiastic, you can start your shiatsu study in May.
Covid-19 Protocol
The open evening takes place after the end of the lockdown at a moment we are allowed to teach again. On the open evening we provide a safe environment for our visitors. We do not allow more than 8 participants per open evening. After registration you will receive our protocol with the measures we take. If you are sick on the evening itself, or one of your roommates has been diagnosed with Corona, stay home! You can then participate in one of our online open evenings.

The Training
The professional Shiatsu training is a part-time program. The curriculum is composed in such a way that the shiatsu course can be easily combined if you have a job or other obligations in addition to your studies. Characteristic of the course is the emphasis on the practice in which you practice the teaching material under supervision of your fellow students. You give shiatsu and receive shiatsu.
Lessons are supported by videos and other material made available through our online learning environment. The theory of eastern medicine is given online via webinars that you can repeat in your own time.

Introduction workshop
Are you excited during an open day or webinar, do you want to experience what it’s like to take lessons at our training, then join one of the introduction workshops! In May we have planned a number of introduction days in our studios in Amsterdam, Delft and Amersfoort. These are fun and practical workshops that we give in a relaxed atmosphere. You will learn a number of basic techniques and principles of Iokai Shiatsu so that after the workshop you can already give a short treatment to people around you. There is a lot of personal attention from experienced teachers who will help you to master the techniques.
